During my visit to Bamako in 2007, I stumbled upon the Zoo National du Mali which was still open for visitors. When I entered the zoo, the atmosphere was one of eerie quietness, a stark contrast to the lively sounds one might expect from a zoo. The place felt almost abandoned, with only a few animals visible, giving it an air of neglect.
