Long before sleek apartments rose along the Brinklaan, this corner of Bussum was home to a striking 1970s office building, a solid brick office building that once pulsed with everyday life. Built around 1972, the structure housed several public services over the decades, most notably the regional GGD health department.
Behind its modest façade, generations of locals passed through its corridors for vaccinations, check-ups, and official matters. For many, it was simply “the GGD building.”
By the early 2000s, time had caught up with it. Around 2008 the structure stood tired, weathered, and out of place in a changing cityscape. In 2008, demolition crews arrived.
Today, new apartments stand where the GGD once stood.
